Observer reporter speaks to last-minute Halloween costume shoppers

This Halloween, consumers are expected to spend more than $3 billion, according to the National Retail Foundation. 18 to 24 years olds tend to spend the most, and are expected to spend around $50 each this year.

It’s no wonder that costume shops in the DC area are flooded with last-minute shoppers. An Observer reporter waited in line for 30 minutes to get inside the Backstage Books and Costume Shop on Capitol Hill last Saturday.
